Our Mission
The first Craft Mafia was founded in 2003 by nine crafty buisness women in Austin, TX. The group originally came together through a shared love for craft, DIY ethics and mutual respect. As the Craft Mafia developed it became a forum for networking, promotion and shared ideas. Since it's development in Austin, other Mafias have popped up across the globe.
The Midland Craft Mafia is a group of diversely talented and independent business owners, who lovingly and respectfully promote the DIY spirit and the art of craft with passion and fun. This group is linked to their sister Craft Mafia groups around the world who promote and support each other in the spirit of a familia. We officially go public with our launch in September.
Our chapter exists as a marketing and networking tool for local independent arts and crafts businesses. Membership provides opportunities for growing our members' individual businesses through shared marketing and promotional endeavors, critiques on products/presentation, participating in craft shows, hosting events for the community, and sharing information about arts and craft techniques as well as successfully running a do-it yourself style business.
There is no room in the Midland Craft Mafia for the “me-first” crowd. We work together as a team to ensure the success of all members. We are ethical folks who value the same in others. We play fair with each other and others. The Midland Craft Mafia actively promotes and supports other indie businesses in Midland and beyond – bands, stores, artists, publications. We appreciate and support the DIY ethic in all it’s forms and want to help support alternatives to the mainstream.
Choose Local! Choose Handmade!
